THE OCEAN...

He loved her. That alone was the problem, and the solution. It was his greatest strength, and his most vulnerable weakness. The selfishness of his love was terrorizing him... holding him hostage and greedily unwilling to let him go. Her love reminded him of the ocean, at times clear and pure and easy to see, and then dark and murky, full of danger and unknowns. Like waves crashing into the shore as he stood on the wet sands. Sometimes the water would gently come up to his feet, and other times the waves would rush in almost knocking him over. He stood on the edge of the water always cautious and yet always care free. No matter the temperature he would surely run right in given the chance. He hated who he was with her, but he loathed who he was without her. The lonely sailor lost at sea. Surrounded by the endless depths it became hard to tell where the ocean stopped and the sky began. And this is how he felt with her, as if up were down and down were up. Certainly he would love to find ...

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

There was something about her...about her smile that captured me and held me hostage, immobilized. I found myself trying to pin point what made her smile so great. What made a smile like that I wondered? A nose, the eyes, the lips? How could a perfect stranger feel so familiar to look at? After all she was just that....perfect....and a stranger. Her hair, curly and light, fell around her face like golden brown leaves in a tree, falling gracefully from an early autumn breeze. She had a look about her that reminded me of Thanksgiving. Home cooked food, a mothers hug, and children playing in the yard. What made a smile like that? How could someone look so unselfish in a selfie. In all my life I don't believe I've ever had a truly "beautiful morning", but certainly this is what it looks like. She was a beautiful song, a perfect chemistry of sound and instrument. I kept trying to pin point what it was about her....and then I heard it...the song...it was Duke Ellington...

A SCENARIO (taking a leap)

Of all the bad days I've had in my life, and there have been plenty, this one in particular, was bad. Although looking back on it now, I can't remember what made it so bad. I guess that's how it goes. It's bad up until that something good happens, and then you tend to forget the bad before. I was walking down the boardwalk on a summer night, I was alone, which made me stand out, even as I blended my way through the coupled up crowds. The sky was that shade of purple and orange, the kind of sunset that made you feel closer to the heavens.       I made my way up the pier to the very end, as if I needed to be as close to the edge as possible so that my physical surrounding matched my emotional mood. Standing alone amongst the waves, the whole world crashing and moving around me, and me standing still staring out into a future I had no way to reach. Yep, that was me. Drowning in an ocean of self pity and doubt.  ...

SWIMSUIT UP: FOR THE LADIES

Image
The gyms across america are packed, the parks are full of people running, and the yoga classes seem a bit fuller......ahhhhh, summer is upon us once again. A staple of the summer fun is always a trip to the beach. Living in Los Angeles, beach life is a big part of my summer life, and you see all kinds of people in all different fashions. There are things I hate, and there are things I like....so here is a few thoughts for the ladies to consider when getting beach ready. THE DO'S: KNOW YOUR FIT: When it comes to bikini's a lot of time I think that women believe "Less is More". But I can't agree with that. Just because there is more of you hanging out does not mean we find you more attractive. An ill fitting bikini is just as much a turn off as a girl who can't walk in high heels properly. It's a thin line between sexy and slutty, and those who know their fits are best equipped to walk this line with swagger and grace. THE ONE PIECE: The...
